tracyt302
Please help me identify this 170# Anvil. It has a partial diamond stamp and a round solid wrought. I took it by a horseshoe supply and they thought it might be a Peter Wright or a Trenton. Also let me know a value. Thanks for your help. Sask Mark
I'm going to guess that it's an early Trenton. It has very similar lines to my 1899 Trenton along with the hourglass impression under the base. There also appears to what might be a diamond shaped stamping on the side (the shape of a Trenton stamping). If there is any stamping remaining on the fromt of the foot, that would help in the identification. Value is dependant on a few variables (the market for anvils in the area where it is located being the major one). I don't know enough about these variables to provide an estimate on value.
