April 20, 201016 yr Hey Guys, I've been lurking here a while and wanted to say thanks for all the info you share. It's been alot of help. Here are a few RR Spike Hawks and one Cohea Style Hawk that I just did. Thanks again for all your help.
April 22, 201016 yr hey that's some good work! did you make your own drift? or buy? after i get a few projects done that is going to be my next " can't wait till its done" project. I've started to make a drift out of a old drift pin i found at work, don't know the right dimensions for it or if there is. oh well, great hawks! :D
April 23, 201016 yr those look great I am trying to make a few of those myself! do you ever make anything else from R.R.spikes? how is the splitting of the spike done best? Look awesome I am impressed!

Look awesome I am impressed! Thanks Astygma I've done some simple door knockers, candle holders and a few knives from RR spikes. I'm really just learning so they're easy to work with and easy to come by. I actually predrill some holes for the slot then heat up a slitting tool I made to cut the slot. Then I drive my drift through and shape.

Thanks Chad I bought a drift after the one I made finally was beat to death. ;o) I think there is a standard size for tomhawk handle if someone is buying them but I generally draw knife out my own handles so I can fit them to the heads
