Kendrick Posted November 27, 2009 Share Posted November 27, 2009 I got my variable speed blower for my coal forge done It's a sewing machine motor attached to a small cooling fan. It works great! looker Posted December 12, 2009 Share Posted December 12, 2009 Great idea for controlling the speed! Here's another idea: In my woodworking catalog they sell a variable speed router control. Basically, you plug it into the wall and then plug your motor into the control. The speed is controlled by a knob. It would free you up to move around the shop while you're waiting for your heat. He could forge a clip that would hold the motor on some when needed. He could also then mount the switch on the same leg as the motor and reach it with his hand.
