Sam Falzone
Hot off the OABA website. Enjoy.June Saturday, June,13,2009 The meeting for this month is being hosted by OABA member Henk Boon in Desboro,Ontario. It will take place on Saturday,June,13,2009. The following demonstrators will be there with their forges,Howard Budd Howard is going to demonstrate forge welding of high carbon steels into projects of various types. Then doing an acid etch to show how the pattern welded steel turns into visible layers of the steels in the finished projects depicting the multiple shades of grey to black. Howard is going to discuss where to obtain the different types of steel used and how economical it can be for us. Iron in the Hat - We are requesting that all members that are attending bring a handmade piece of their work for iron in the hat. This has proven to be an effective fund raiser for our association and we believe is supporting our own. There is nothing better than taking home a treasure that a fellow member created with his own hands.Brag Table - We will be setting up a brag table and urge all our members to bring along a recent project they have finished to inspire us all. There is no better way to network than showing who you are and what you can do while having your talents bragged about by your fellow blacksmiths and having your specific talents passed on to prospective buyers.Lunch - A hot roast beef on a bun lunch with all the trimmings will be served at noon for a cost of $5.00 ea. Doug McEwing will be showcasing the big barbeque he built and has volunteered to roast some good Grey County beef for us. We have ordered up a bright sunny day but if things are not favourable for us, there is a large area under a roof for us where we can forge. And there is a functioning outhouse on site.
