TheGreenMan
Here is my first try. I know that I should have forged it square or round not flat. Do you think that is my only problem or am I also trying too cool? The center was too cool but I think I would have gotten the ends OK if I had forged it round. Any thoughts? Thanks. Rob Browne
Make sure you heat it slowly to get the heat right through the material. If you have one do the weld in a bottom swage tool and twist the cable as you hammer it to help keep it round. Lots of flux on while you heat it to try and flush out the junk. Other than that its practice. Not bad for a first effort. Its a lot harder to weld old, rusty cable than the shiny, clean billets we often set up for ourselves that can be wired together so they don't move all over the place when hit.
