The taper was hand forged replying to Frosty, and it took about 6 hours invested in just the twist another 2 hours in building the railing. We twisted the cap to the front post, then shimmed the rest of the railing accordingly and welded it.
Bending the hard way can be tricky sometimes.
this customer wanted the twist not perfect to match other things in their house. "Organic Look" is the word they used.
I see your stop there for the tight curl. Usually when I have a tight radius like that or a ball end, I will do the same thing but Instead of clamps or forks I will use a pry bar against the welded stop right at the tip. If I am in a rush I will make my jig for pre bending the tip on the anvil.
