Just thought I'd drop a quick line to say hey and introduce myself. I grew up around the trades (Dad's a carpenter) and have been a woodworker for many years. Blacksmithing is something I thought about trying a couple years ago, just never "got 'round to it". My goal is to cobble together a few carving tools, marking/chip knives...maybe a chisel or ten So far I've just picked up a couple books; and I discovered this site the other day. I'll probably spend a couple weeks just reading the books and perusing the posts here. Just basically get an idea of what I'll need to get started.
