    POP/Sand Forge

Thanks Guys. This helps. I would like to get more into forging but my shop is only so big. I started out off curiosity to make knife, to carve a spoon from green wood. I have made several spoons from dried lumber but wanted to try Green wood and I did not have a crook knife, so I made one. Now I want to make another one. I'll send some pictures next. I also made a few fillet knives out of an old hand saw, they work very well too.

    POP/Sand Forge

Well, first I apologize for the simulated cuss word. Second, since I have the 20lb propane can with a 3 1/2 inch hole in the middle. filled with the plaster /sand mix, Could I still use it if I carve out most of the plaster/sand mix enough to make room for a soft refractory brick on the bottom and one on each side, then drill a torch hole in from the sides. It was a lot of work and I am looking for a way to make it work. I want to be safe and was thinking that if the plaster/sand was not the actual medium directly in contact with the heat, it would be alright.
  3. I just made a POP/sand forge with a 20lb canister, boy is that heavy! (Yes a You Tube Follower, or was,) I was searching to see how long i need to let it dry before I use it, and then Voila, I found this site. xxxx. I just wasted $20. Question #1. Is it safe to use. #2. I only have a couple of things that need to be bent, can I still use it for those projects? #3. Is there something else that I can put in the canister, (once I dig out the plaster), to do very light metal moving / Bending?
