  1. Sorry, I'd be the buyer. Apologies for not being clear. Thanks all! Much appreciated. I think I'll pass on it.
  2. Howdy, Was made an offer on this lot from a local collector. $50 for all of it. However, as a beginner, I'm not sure if it has that kind of value for a beginner. For reference, I don't currently even own a hammer, so this lot would take care of that and give me several other things. Can anyone help me identify these? Thanks! Mat
  3. Howdy all, I'm starting my journey in to blacksmithing at the end of this month. I'm looking for advice from people who live here on the Front Range on the topic of smithing supply resources. What are your go to shops for material, tools, and the like? I'm attempting to take a class in the New Year, but would like to get a little head start on heating some metal and making some doodads while I wait. I live in Louisville and can drive in any direction for about an hour for the right resource. Thanks, Mat
  4. Dropped by my local upcycle yard and found a huge trove of this stuff. Picked out the best looking of the bunch (And all the files) and got a deal on them. Anything here particularly interesting to you guys? Brand new to the craft and don't know squat.
  5. That's exactly right Thomas, this was given to me by a guy who has a little ranch not but 6 miles away from me. He used it to shoe his horses and apparently has a newer one that he uses now so he gave me his old one. Thanks for the advise on pre-warming. I'll take it to heart. Finally, yes, it rings like a bell when tapped. Beautiful sound.
  6. Thanks all, for the replies. Much appreciated. I'm located in Colorado along the Front Range and am living in Louisville. Th anvil weighs 72 lbs. Looking forward to getting it mounted.
  7. Hi all. Just beginning my Smithing journey after the new year. Been trying to slowly collect some of the fundamentals. Today a guy gave me this anvil. It's in pretty bad shape. Could you taker a look and tell me if you think it would be worth trying to refurbish? I don't have much cash to start this new hobby, and I'd love to use this anvil if it makes sense. I think it's a Columbian, but I'm not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
