Who thinks they know the original color red or grey

I have had alot of trouble deciding I have found grey tinted paint under red paint. I'm not sure if the grey is primer but for the 1920's its is strange to hear of primer. Do you think the red was put on after or a top coat? So I'm torn was it red or grey
