  1. Yes there are maker marks on it. I'm not positive what they are at the moment because its not in front of me but I know it says something like Chicago and Blazer & Co on it. I will double check and post what it says.
  2. This was a clever I got out of my grandparents house. I remember my grandfather using it to clean the huge catfish he would big home from his trot lines. It has been hanging on the wall since 1984. It was in rough shape and the handle was falling apart. It is the biggest clever I have ever put my hands on. I have been watching this forum for some time now, so I thought I would restore it for my many years of use. Picture was takin one night when I was working on it with my blackberry so the quality is not the best. The saw its sitting on is a 10" miter saw and the ruler is 12" long. The handle is hard maple and brizilian cherry. I still have a long way to go but I am going to keep the blade in a rough look for my grandfather. sorry for the image being so big

  4. Thanks everyone. Ed, I'm not far from you. I'm in Colfax, IL. Farmer City is just a hop, skip and a jump for me so I might swing down there. Thank you all for the warm welcome. BTW,,,I am building a charcol forge just to anneal and to heat treat. I am no where near ready to forge a blade. I am going to cut my first blades from old circular saw blades that I have from work. I have been reading about all this for some time now and decided to set up and start making my own knives to go with my traditional archery gear.
  5. Just a newby here, ran across this site by trying to find info about making a forge for myself. I just want to make some knives and I'm sure many of you will help me out over time.
