If it were mine, I would get rid of it and work with something safer. But thats just me.

As HWooldridge said manual lathes turn both ways for all kinds of reasons, CNC lathes can also run both ways, but mostly run clockwise since the turrett is on the back side.

We make some of the same parts at work, chrome plated shaft is 4140, at least the stuff we use is. Hope that helps.

Used for checking hole sizes... go fits.. no go don't, same idea for theaded parts both internal and external. can use the same idea for measuring a shoulder on a part. ect, ect.ect. scrapman1077
