  1. Yes, I watch a lot of Youtube, and I mean a lot. I think I have seen many of the videos from the two "artists" you mentioned. I will subscribe to both of them. I want to thank you, and everyone here for all your support here on this site, it is great! Bob
  2. Pnut:All is good, thank you responding, and as Frosty said, I have been in contact. I have gotten a lot of very good suggestions and information here already.... Right now I have a small homemade "charcoal" forge, I haven't tried it with coal yet as I moved to the cold from Florida, and in FL I could not find coal, but here I can get some, not sure what type they carry but I will be trying it when it warms up, if it warms up. I will check out the "jabod" posts, as I am looking for one. My wife is from here (Crosby), I'm from MN, but I got stationed (ex-Air Force) in FL as just stayed there for about 23 years. Thank you, and thank everyone! Bob
  3. Master Lucky, Thank you for the input, there are a lot of horses around here. I will get with some of the folks near by and ask them about it. Again thank you, great idea! Bob
  4. ausfire; Thank you for your reply! Yes I am trying to be self taught, but it is slow... Mistakes, LOL, I make lots and you are correct, so far I haven't made the same ones twice yet, as there are so many. Maybe, when I get a little more experience I could make the same mistakes again. Again sir thanks for the response. Bob
  5. Is there anyone near the North West corner of North Dakota? Seven (7) Miles from Canada and about 20 miles from Montana? I would like to hear from you. I am a new (so called) blacksmith although I don’t like to use that term as I am NO blacksmith, I just hit heated metal with a so called hammer, I would like to know if there is anyone near that can “forge” me into shape. Any input would help, as it seems to me that I’m standing alone. But I’m trying; at least I can say that, although I’m a little slow (health), I do my best. Almost everything I know has been done though the internet, and that is not much, well I think I know a lot but do not know how to use it. I am in Crosby, ND about 70 miles north of Williston, ND Thank all of you, very much!!!! Bob (UWBob)
  6. Hello everyone. My Name is Bob Stewart, and yes, I'm in Crosby, ND. Well at least about 7 miles from there. Just moved up here from Florida, lived in FL for about 24 years, needless to say it is a little cooler here. I'm new to this stuff, but I have gotten some metal hot and have wacked it a few times, but that is about it. I’m starting to build my “shop” with what I can find, or can build myself. If anyone is in the North West ND, or knows of anyone that likes to strike hot metal please let me know, I’m always looking for some help, or just someone to hammer with. Thank all of you! Bob (aka UWBob)
  7. I'm new at all of this, I hope I don't bother to many of the smart folks here....
