  1. I picked up this little 80lb anvil not too long ago and had been racking my brain trying to figure out this stamp. I figured it was a Hay Budden made for a hardware store, but I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. The serial number is 15519, which dates to 1894 I believe. The "SOLID WROUGHT" is obvious and below that is a bit of "WARRANTED", but that first line had me stumped. Looks like a "0" at the bottom, which I'm guessing is part of the 80lb weight. I have spent the last 3 weeks looking at pictures of anvil stamps to figure this out. All of a sudden it hit me, it was upside down. Sure enough, flip it over and I can barely make out "W.B.B. & CO". Has anyone ever seen this before? It gave me a good laugh when I figured it out. Now I can finally sleep at night.
