I am also suspicious of a few other brands for example the American wrought anvil company that was right down the street from the hay buddon factory but I can't find any information on them as far as manufacturing specs or anything.

I just recently purchased this anvil and suspect this to be a hay budden but I unfortunately don't know enough about them to tell. The bottom has a rim around the edges and is slightly recessed inside the rim. There is a handling hole in the foot under the heel but not on the foot in front under the horn. The only markings that I can find on it is the eight beside the front handling hole in the waist despite having waisted five pounds of flour trying to find markings. It's killing me not knowing what it is and any help would be greatly appreciated.
