i forge them with a "glazer" GSH 51 power hammer (flat dies ) and a big elongated cone to forming the eye!!!

hi all!!!
i have made a new sledge hammer(compact form to use the edge of the table for moving metal) in a square tool steel ( 0.48% carbone) section 70 mm (2.75 inch) , 3600 grams (or 7.70 lbs).
"frêne hickory " wood handle.
i think it s a good hammer for striking all the time and a longer time than a big one, it s better for my "back problems"

in first sorry for my english!!!(i m french!!) i m just a "froggy " who like blacksmiting and coppersmithing ..... i start working metal 11 years ago and i like that!!!! i think if you read this it ' s same for you (ahhhh !! the smeal of forge fire.....)

i have seal the wood handle in the eye with sikaflex 11 FC , it 's a mastic polymere glue !!! (look on the "angele" web site "glue for hammer") ;)
