  1. Thanks for the help to those that answered the question. Steve if you feel the need to post something rude on my thread atleast direct it to me don't use "he" use "you" . I didn't go looking for the answer because I didn't know where to go and i needed an answer. The question was obviously not rediculous because people politely and kindly answered it.

Mod note: If you have a question about knives, most likely that information will be in the knife section of the site. Heat treating could be in the knife section or the heat treating section. You may wish to read both so you do not miss any information that you might need.

  2. Guys I am aware of how terrible the forge is. I made to try out blacksmithing enough to invest into something better. It's very very hot where I live so I need to see if would like standing in naturally 100 degree heat on top of the heat that comes off the forge. It did its job. I also have plans to make a better one but don't own the tools needed ( welder, plasma cutter etc)

  3. Hi guys. As the name says I am a major newbie to blacksmithing. I made a gas powered forge cheaply to get started on small projects whale saving to invest in a bigger one. My issue is that I bought a thin piece of rebar at the hardware store and it won't get to temp. Now i want to know is it that my forge isnt creating enough heat or is rebar just made in XXXX and has a too high forge temp. And if so what do you guys thing is a good beginner metal. Thanks for the help.
