Im in south central Montana. Sorry but the O sets in the V not as stated above. This anvil is London style. Lettering is raised 3/8 wide definite V with O setting inside of V. V is 4" high by 3" wide. Guess to be at least 76 years old.

Hi all. New hamer head here. I have come across an anvil it is 204 Lbs. at least 70 years old. The only identification I found was on the right side a 3 inch diameter O with a V inside the O. The V touchs the O at its 3 points . sorry I dont have any pictures, no smartphone. The story i got from the second owner was that one set of horse shoes was made on it then the anvil and other things in the lean to shop were buried by a mudslide, there it remained for 70 years until the story was relayed to a younger relative dug the anvil up and sold it to curent owner. He is asking 800 $. It looks good sharp edges on the face some rust piting but suprisingly little for 70 years buried. The price may be ok but I would sure like to know something about who and where this anvil was. Thank you
