BP0209 Grinder / Buffer Stand by Garey Ford A 18 wheeler brake drum with a piece of round 3/8 plate on top and a 24" piece of pipe held in place with welders helper magnets. Brake drum with plate and pipe tack welded in place. With some drums, the cast makes it hard to weld the plate on. It could be bolted on if there was a problem. Base with pipe welded on. Stand with top welded on and grinder setting in place. Top is a piece of 3/8 plate 12"x8" (it would be easier to weld top on before the pipe is welded to the break drum- Hint! Hint!) Stand with quench /cooling can bracket attached. Front view with primer paint. Stand rear view in primer paint. Grinder/buffer stand with water can in place and grinder bolted down. Same view of grinder, painted J.D. Green. (as i had a gallon of this color). Brake drum base is heavy enough that it will stay put if a rubber mat is placed under it. I discovered this when I fired it up and the vibration wanted to make it walk around. The rubber mat cured this walking. ( hint: don't fill the water can up over 1/2 full . Vibration makes the water jump out.) View full article
