  1. By the way, I bought and read the entire book ANVILS IN AMERICA and still had no luck. So do not say that I did not do my homework, I did.
  2. Made a brand new set of pictures. Any ideas who made it will be appreciated. It is made of cast steel with a tool steel top, weighs 340 lbs and has a letter V between feet. Pictures are here: misc ==> Anvil ==> Set Up
  3. pictures and details here: misc ==> Anvil ==> Purchased any idea on who made it would be gladly appreciated. I bought this anvil at Rock Island Arsenal from a liquidation auction. They decided to auction off entire contents of one huge building, because they wanted to renovate it. This anvil is 33 inches long and weighs approximately 320 lbs. I tried to measure rebound by dropping a 1 inch diameter hard bearing ball on it and measuring how high it would rebound. My best attempts at measurement ended up with rebound at 85-90%. This anvil came with a combination cast iron/wooden base. It also had a "shelf" that can be mounted in the pritchel hole.
  4. Looks a lot like a Columbian! But I think that al columbian anvils carry a letter C on it, whereas this one has a prominent letter "V". A puzzle by all means.
  5. I estimate its length to be approximately 3 feet. Any idea who may have made it?
