  1. Well, if you have any Irish contacts or know any of your local politicians that would have Irish political contacts, ask them to talk about the school. Our biggest problem is raising awareness.
  2. Thank again John, I have sent your post on to the other board members, as I feel it fits our circumstances exactly. I'll keep you posted on our progress.:)
  3. Thanks John, I would love to hear more of how you got things up and running as it sounds the way for us to go. If you can email me any relevant info it would be most welcome. Thanks to you also Mick, I know what your talking about it has been two years of banging our heads against brick walls, but we now have five TD's (members of the Irish parliament) on our side. I also think your suggestions have a lot of merit especially getting something going as it is easer to support a reality.
  4. Great, e-mail me your details and I'll put you on the databse. My email address ie: info@michaelbudd.ie Do you know Stephen Quinn in Tuam, Co. Galway? You should look him up he doing some nice work and is very open.
  5. I feel it is time for us all to start making the art world sit up and take notice of what we are doing. The work I have seen in the realm of blacksmithing far outstrips what is happening in the general art world, which seems to be very boring and stagnant. There has never been a better time to kick down the doors of art galleries!
  6. We really need to get more smiths to approach galleries and put on exhibitions. It's the only way to move our work into the art arena.
  7. Here are a few photos from my first solo exhibition that opened at the Cat and the Moon gallery in Sligo, Ireland on the 28th of Feb. It runs until the 25th of March so if you happen to be in Sligo please go take a look.
  8. I'm currently putting together a database of smiths living in Ireland so we can all be informed about forge-in's etc. If you are a smith in Ireland or know of any please e-mail me the details. Thank you.
  9. Thanks for all your kind comments. The hole was 600mm deep and 1100mm by 1300mm. Here is a photo that the cliant has taken in the last few days.
