Hi, This my first post. I have worked on a wood floor before, very easy on the feet and no real risk for fire as long as you keep track of hot cut offs. You may want to put down some cement board just to lay hot stuff on. I rarely quench, and just through stuff on the floor to cool. Also work on a dirt floor at Lincoln's New Salem. It is dirty and easy to loose dropped items, also need to level floor from tome to time. I would keep the wood floor and just make sure not to leave hot stuff on it. If it is a worry then cement board might be all that is needed in the forging area. Allen Ortery
