  1. Earlier in this thread there was a mention of Mapp gas. I am trying to get into silversmithing - would this be better than acetylene??
  2. Further to the original question - I took the bottle to the locar Praxair agent and watched them dither and then call the Head Office. End result - I could send the bottle in for refill but it would likely have to be hydrostatically tested before refilling and likely the thing would disappear from the system due to it's uniqueness (sp ??). I have elected to keep it and buy a new bottle. Thanks for the input - very valuable!!!
  3. I am in Northern British Columbia- (54 degrees N) and the nearest refilling depot is at least 200 miles if not 650 miles away. It sounds as if I should buy another tank rather than risk losing a collectable!!! Thanks for the info - I will keep checking for more ideas.
  4. My first post is a question - HELP!!! I was given a fairly old Prestolight acetylene system (Torch, hose and bottle). The bottle is different in that the valve at the top is off centre and the pressure gauge is in the bottom of the bottle. It is painted a color that I would describe as WW2 army green and is in good shape (no rust). What do I have and how do I get the bottle refilled?
