my father is a hard wood floor installer and recently turned me on to some very nice brazillian cherry to use for handles. a thought to those out there looking for a decent wood in the very hard range that resists spliting look to your local flooring retailers installers i am impressed. cant beat the price either.

look to the local scrap heap you will be amazed at what you can find.
