    Buffalo Blower No. 3

Thanks for posting these on the Buffalo Blower # 3. Bill Gichner gave me one years ago, which didn't have the blower itself and only had the top piece of wood. I rebuilt it from the parts list for the thing, but had to use a different blower. I have kept an eye out for an original blower with the buffalo on it all along: where there is life there is hope, and I hope someday to be able to add that part to the thing. Also I have used this hooked into a brick forge for about 10 years and have always found it to be a real pleasure to use.

    Christian Queen Obituary 0

The inventor of the Queen Patent Portable Forge. This obituary, published in 1894 goes a long way to explaining his life, as a young inventive blacksmith who pretty much began the business of manufactured forges, tools we mostly think of as antiques today but which were in his future. The obituary also explains the fact that he sold his patents very early and the buyer capitalized on his ideas. His medical discharge from the Union Army is noted and the reasons for it,,,and from the tone of the article shows that he was a well regarded and probably beloved member of his community.

  13. Chuck, I've just come back to Iforge, mostly because I found this discussion on the Empire Forge here. Below posted some images I have from my own files of the Empire Forge. I don't have one but recently managed to purchase a Queen's Patent Portable Forge, pat 1845 in pretty good-but-not-usable shape. I'd followed up the Empire Forge information when seeing it advertised by the same retailer as the Queen's Forge. Lot of information on the Queen's Forge but trying to get more so this is just a start. Also have some nice images of different Army and Navy forges if anyone is interested. Cap
