This sunday I get to go to Bristol forge at rocky mount. The local group in my area. this will be my first meeting with a group of smiths ever. I am really looking forward to meeting them and learning some things. Just thought I would share my excitement. Thanks.

Your table looks great. The only critique i have is the pins in the cross braces look kinda sharp. Are you going to bend them over or wrap them down the legs? other than that very nice work I am sure the happy couple will be pleased with it. :)

That looks fantastic. How did you make the square?? Just curious if it is cut out of plate or forge welded bar.

dognose you sound like an artist. From looking at that flesh fork I would say you are an artist. That is great work. As an artist myself I can say that we realy are our own worst critics. The simitry on the tines are spot on the circle looks great and those spots on the handle are something I would have never thought of realy great work. I have only rairly had anything come out as I invisioned and nothing has evercome out perfict. I can point out all the mistakes on any of my work. It looks great and will blow the mind of the person you give that too.

 I do that a lot too. I don't recall who said it but and old (Greek?) stone sculptor once said something along the lines of "I didn't create the sculpture, it was already there. I simply trimmed off the rough edges to reveal what was already there".

I agree with Glenn. If I am having one of those days that I just can't get anything right. I put it down and walk away for the day. If I have not caught it before I get frustrated I will usualy go hit a punching bag for a bit just to get the frustration out then go play with my 7 year old son.

Im going to put in my 2 cents. I think it would be best with the forges seperated upagainst the back wall accross from the viewing wall so when the smiths are at the anvil the forge is behind them and they are facing-ish the viewers.

That is one of my favorite movies. Matter of fact that movie made me realize my consept of a knight in shining armor was actualy a crusader in mail. Which made me change my sca persona completely. Have you seen the directors cut yet?

By closure I ment how do you seperate it to put it on. are you going to put on buckles, ties, or snaps. It looks like you pull it over you hand in those pics. It also lookis like it would slide down to your wrist when you swing your arm.

What did you use? are you going to line it with anything? Have you though of a closure for it?

What mix for the refractoy do you use? or should ask how is it diffrent?

Ironwolf I learned lampworking with my local group of the SCA. You Might want to find you local meeting and ask around I am sure there is someone who knows their way around a torch or can introduce you to someone who does.

I like that one it reminds me of a cobra. Good job.
