Thanks! -

Im surprised there isnt an armorers sub-forum(it's late and i might not've seen it), so i might aswell ask here. Anyone have any experience making plate armors? If so, are you willing to share your informations with me?
thanks in advance
Typically, medieval (Because I like them the most) Armourers had 4-horned anvils, and did most of the plate shaping of the flat steel, cold. They used heat only for tight bends and welding some parts together.
Here are a few pictures of the medieval armourers at work.
If you are curious about the 2 bellows in the one picture (the medieval style), don't hesitate to ask! -
Well, I just got finished working on this fireplace poker:cool:. I made it to sell it to make a little money to make up for the $11.50 I spend for 2 bags of lump charcoal at the store each time I go!
It is made of 3/8 inch stock, and is about 3 feet long (it would be exactly 3 feet, but I curved it a little). It also has 2 decorative twists (the one at the top is a lot smaller than the one at the bottom).
I think it turned out pretty good.
-Don't mind my forge in the background. It might not look very pretty, but it works! -
Is this made with a single piece of metal or did you form the socket and head seperately then weld them together?
I made it as one peice without any welding.:) -

I've been thinking about naming mine Black Maple Ironworks, because I have a lot of maple trees that I turn into charcoal:D.

What about a company not too far away called Miller's Landscaping? They claim to have coal, but has anyone ever bought from them, or know anything about them?

Zsartell, that really is beautiful!
... I'm envious. -
Hey, does anyone know how to make a candle snuffer? I can't quite figure out how to make the cup-part...
Thanks! -
The first thing I ever made in a (crude) forge was a (mostly bent) cutting tool (supposed to be a knife-like tool) :rolleyes:to be used with dirty clay. It was made out of a very weak, mostly magnesium, and aluminum pipe. It didn't even need any heat!
Thank goodness I've moved on since then! -
Which is better for you, and where would be a good place to get bellows?
Right now I am using a fan, but bellows just seem so much better for control...
-Thanks -
Hi. I have been using Charcoal for a while now (and I like it), but I wanted to try using coal. I don't know where to get any (I live in Navarre, Ohio), and Ebay has very poor selection.
Anyone care to help?
-Thanks

I want a spring for a crossbow, but I'm also interested in how to make spring steel in general...
