"recommended flux for mild steel is clean sand and borax. mixed 4
parts sand and 1 part borax..
Ordinary borax contains water, when this is heated, bubbles and is
cooled it becomes borax glass. Pulverize this and mix 4 parts of this
to 1 part sal ammoniac (ammonium chloride). This mix is good for
carbon steels..
High carbon steel flux is 50% anhydrous borax, 25% boric acid and
25%silica sand.
Where would I get these?? Let your fingers walk.. Call chemical supply
houses.."

I would make a gas forge, for my small private activity, but I don’t know the potential of side arm burner of zoller or t-rex.

My hypothetical forge must have this dimensions : 50 x 30 x 20 mm


This forge is the best in italy for small activity : Forno AR/1 from www.ARitalia.it but it’s expensive


If I buy your side arm burner, I should rebluild the same as carateristic of this commercial gas forge ? That is ….


I must build a forge for normal forging works, with 50 x 30 x 20 of dimension, and two of your burner, but I it catches up the optimal temperature ?

I don't try metal engraving, but now I make a ten chesels for this, o an other job with iron

I use a K110 or k100 for my chisels, tempering in oil at 900degree.

I work wood, beech wood, buxus for turning, and juglans regia for table or other jobs.

O.T. I'm content it appeals to my city; but I'm very very rabid for the political class in italy. I don't approve nothing !
