  1. Thanks guys! More info than I had haha Im about to take a brush to it now so Ill let ya know if I find anything.
  2. Thanks for the comment.. But that's not what I asked.. I just wanted to know if anyone could take a guessat the brand or what not. I dont see how I was complaining about it at all. Obviously I'm ecstatic that he let me borrow it! Maybe I'm misunderstanding the point of your post, and I'm sorry if I am, but if your just going to be 'smart' please don't comment on this. I was just asking a q.
  3. A guy I know had this laying around his shop. Said I could borrow it until I found one or he needed it back (made a joke about using it as a boat anchor, Xept he doesn't have a boat haha) can anyone tell me anything about it? I can't find any markings on it, but but ide guess its around a 100 pounds and its 9 1/2 inches tall and 19 long. Thanks! Oh and sorry about only the side view, I deleted one of the pictures on accident when I did this.
  4. thanks everyone! I think Ill take Chichis advice and make ones with holes in them for a screw. More helpful nowadays haha. I got these out of the edge of the anvil book. First thing they show you, i didnt really take time to think about where they would be best used. Thanks for all the advice!
  5. Well it took me awhile but I finally found some coal a couple of weeks ago and finally had time time to fire up the forge! I know they are pretty rough but I figure I gotta start somewhere :D

  7. Thanks Mr. Turley! I was able to get that same phone number from Brad Gunter ia email. I went through Moriarty today but was never able to get ahold of him. I have to go through again middle of next week with family, if I cant get ahold of him again maybe I can convice them to make a little day trip to Santa Fe.
  8. Thanks Thomas! I am headed up to moriarty/Abq tomorrow and I will try to get ahold of Them. The contact button on there website gave me an email, so hopefully I get an Email back while I am up there. If I am ever down around there I will definitly look you up! Ill take all the help I can get haha I think Ill start working on a propane forge next, its also really easy to obtain here. But since I already made one I guess I might as well learn how to use coal :D
  9. I have checked around Clovis. Honestly I hadnt thought to check portalles, I never go there it kind of slipped my mind. Could I get some contact information for anyone in Moriarty? Ill look into the propane.

  11. Thanks Thomas! I am going to be going through Moriarty in the next couple of days hopefully so I will try to get ahold of him. Yall all have a Merry Christmas!
  12. Hi everybody! Just signed up, seems like alot of people here know what they are talking about :D So a friend of mine had the idea to make a forge in our metal shop class, after we got tired of using the OA torch to heat up horseshoes to make a few hoof picks. So... after looking around online we made a coal forge (have no idea if we did it right!) but now we are kind of stuck.. we cant seem to find any coal around central new mexico! All the stuff we can find online charges around 30 or 40$ to ship it here. So any advice on where we could find some? Thanks in advance!
