  1. I just made my brother an outdoor, 2 bottle hanging wine rack. Really came out good so far. After I cleaned it up I coated it with Marvel Mystery Oil.  I am thinking of putting on a spray clear acrylic coating over that. Just want to keep it from rusting as long as possible as we live in N. Carolina. Anyone have any experience coating MMM or suggestions on doing this? Thanks Randy.

  2. I have a hay wagon I am going to make a covered wagon just for the Grand kids to camp in. I am planning on using 1/4 x 1" flat bar for the hoops. Any suggestions on the best way to make the brackets that I slip the ends into? I will just screw them into the boards thinking of using the same size flat stock just can't seem to think of how to make them. Any help appreciated. Thanks Randy.

  3. I went and googled iron city post vise images. I guess you are right Thomas, that part I was describing must be the extension that you are talking about. If that part is worn out and there is no damage to the screw or screwbox then that should not be a problem. Right?

  5. Thomas it is not an extension. It actually somewhat covers the screw directly below the jaws. But it does also have a extension as you stated. Also, not that this has anything to do with the question, he is asking $150.00 for it. Way more than I have ever gave for one but if he will negotiate I am definitely interested. Thanks.

  6. A man had a I.C. post vise at he flea market last weekend. I looked at it and am thinking about making him an offer this weekend. Vise looked good. It is a 6", not tweaked, no cracks, screw looks good, and weighs around 75-85 lbs. Only thing I am wondering, if someone can tell me is this. I have never had an Iron City and it has some sort of shield over the screw that looks like it is worn pretty bad, especially on one side. Is this a problem? All my other post vises have no such shield or whatever it is. If everyone thinks this is not a problem I will make him an offer on it. Thanks

  7. I picked up a pretty decent vise at the Flea Market and can only read part of the name stamped on it. On both sides of each (support, leg, whatever you call it) it is stamped with two words on the diagonal. One word is  _ _ _ ton I believe and the other is _ _ooler or _ _ oolen possibly. Does this ring a bell to anyone? Thanks Randy.

  8. I went to an auction Sat. to look at an anvil. I wound up not buying it, now have 2nd thoughts. It weighed I would guess 150 had unbelievable sharp edges but I could not make out the name on it, which is why I did not buy it. The only thing that you could make out on the side toward the bottom was 1 9 1 ,large letters spaced far apart. My question is with these numbers does that narrow maker down or could it have been more than one manufacturer? It went for $260.00. I could have bought it for $300.00 I believe. Did I really mess up? Thanks Randy.

  9. Well I bought the vise. It wasn't as big as he thought it was. Turned out it has 4 1/2" jaws and weighs 50lbs even. Screwbox and entire vise in excellent shape. Hadn't been used but very little. Still had the original square head bolts where it mounts to a post  or table or whatever. I could not be happier with it even though I have enough vises. Now for the price------$40.00. Good deal, huh. Thanks Randy.

  10. I am going to go look at a vice next week owned by a friend of a friend. Haven't saw it but this is what he said about it. Says Columbian Vice Co. Cleveland OH> USA up next to the jaw. Says it has 6 or 8" inch jaws (he;s not sure) Good screw and spring and some sort of pipe jaws inside under the big jaws.I have never saw one like that, but I don't know how rare that is if at all. Any info. or a possible worth would be appreciated. I live in N.C. Thanks.

  11. There is an auction this Sat. June 7 that I am going to. Looks like a nice anvil but I don"t recognize the maker. I know someone here can help me. Anvil can be see on xxxxxxxxxx.com. North Carolina,Union Grove. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Randy
