Started about 3 years ago, saw some blacksmithing websites and the stuff they created and decided it was something I wanted to do also. Build a brake drum coal forge, dident work out to well. Then made a propane tank gas forge, though I am kinda on hold until I can get my blacksmith shop built. All my projects are starting to pile up!

Conan the Barbarian, hollywood style blacksmithing but still fun to watch.
What is the riddle of steel?
On a side note, it is a sad day in America when we feel we have to censor a classic book named Moby Dick because part of the title has been used in a vulgar way. -
Very nice, I still don't see the leaves so they can't be too bad.

Nice job, how much does the head weigh?

Cleaning out the motor is a good idea, cleaning a shop just stirs up the dust but doesn't really get rid of it. Vacuum or sweep. Talking about blowing out stuff, when is the last time you cleaned out your dusty computer with compressed air? :)

I would say get the single burner. I made my own single burner and it works great. I've never used a two burner so my opinion may be a bit biased.

... Who use Lithium-Ion batteries that, by their very chemical nature, lose roughly 30% of their capacity per year, whether or not you use them.
Those batteries also cost roughly $50,000-$60,000 to replace, or half the cost of the car.
So it's a $100K Roadster that'll get 150 miles on a charge today, or maybe fifty miles on a charge in three years, and cost as much as two Priuses to refresh the batteries.
Yeah, I can see those just flyin' off the shelves.
Doc.
Doc can you cite your statements?
What I found with a quick check is according to Wikipedia the batteries lose 20% not 30% and it depends on the temperature, which Tesla uses a cooling system for the batteries.
The cost of the batteries is 20-30K (couldn't find anything factual just heresay)
And the car gets (according to Tesla and using a prototype) 170-267 Miles with the EPA tests they did showing 230 City and 211 Highway.
It looks to me we will transition more and more to hybrids then maybe full electric or maybe some other alternative fuel. One thing is for certain our current way we use gas is not the answer and thier will always be people who say "it'll never work". -
Too far for me, but that shop had everything!

I use a kevlar glove on my left hand and sometimes a cotton glove on my hammer hand.

I were ear plugs or muffs depending on how hot or cold it is outside (muffs keep my ears warm in tthe winter). I wear them anytime I use the anvil, power tools, mower or anything loud.
I would think people with hearing loss would be more apt to wear them to protect what they have left, then again, I guess if the loud noise is not loud to you then it is not damaging your hearing? -
Nice! How does it feel when used?

Both are very nice, the dragon has a lot of character!

I have one just like it, works great! But you will need to polish the face it comes with little circular lines on the face.

Thanks! The builder hasn't installed the cabinets yet, but once the kitchen is finished I'll take another picture.

A Manila folder would work too as a gasket material.

My wife and I made the table for my Mother for Christmas. My wife painted the table top and the rest I did. She is very happy with it.
We were looking for a while to buy a bistro table but could not find a good one for sale. So my wife said "lets just build one", turned out to be a great idea!
Merry Christmas! -
Thanks for all the great advice!!! I'll do my best to put it to good use.

Hydraulic pressure is equal pressure in all directions, so as long as you put the relief valve on the high pressure side, it really doesn't matter where it is.
In my experience tephlon tape is only good for water and air lines, but I never said I knew everything :) -
Hello,
I am making some table legs and with the bottom part a ball shape. I spent a lot of time heating the ends and striking the bar onto a flat metal surface on the ground, It worked somewhat but part of the problem is I use a gas forge so when I heat the end of the bar it heats about the bottom 4-5 inches and when I try to fatten up the end, the bar bends. So I got an idea of sticking it in a vise, leaving about 2 inches out and beating the crap out of it. It worked but I'm not sure that was the best way and the results don't look as good as I had envisioned. Any advise on how to fatten the ends of the bar enough to have a good amount of material to make it into a ball?
Also when I put the twists in I noticed the twist closest to the vise looks tighter than the twist where I had my wrench. Any advise on how to fix that?
I attached some pictures to help explain.
Thanks in advance!

I'm talking about cord wrapping the handle like a knife handle?
Would it make it easier to hold in the hand or more trouble than it is worth?
