Do you have anyone local that runs a small saw mill? Its a good way to get rough cut lumber and you wont pay the vintage barn wood price. Guy near my place sells 1" x 12" ceder for $ 0.50 a board foot. Pine is even less. Might be worth looking into.

Was going to say the same as Timothy. I have a nice belt grinder but for sharpening tool bits and drills stone works better.

Trentons are stamped U.S.A but I'm not sure if HB's are. Nice score on the vises!

I don't sell at craft fairs but I have quite a bit of experience with gun shows. I work for a promoter and sit at the door. Generally year to year at the different show locations the door numbers are the same. Keeping notes and records for all the different venues you sell at will help. I would talk with the other vendors and see what shows are great and which ones are not. That might help a little when deciding what shows to attend. Ensuring with the promoter that you are the only blacksmith at a show might help too.

Was Goldie manufacturer? Sure looks like they just took a PW and stamped there name on it.

Maybe they purchased the legs from PW and did the finish work.

I would use them if you need the material for tools. You would probably be spending more money on new stock than what they would be worth used. Just glancing at ebay the breakers seem to be worth only a couple dollars each. The spades may be worth more.

The second is a fisher. Looks almost unused. How much it weigh?

Yep its a Trenton. Good anvils. Wrought body with steel top. There will be some numbers on the foot, horn end. One will be weight and the other the serial number. It's a shame the face is gone :(

An 18 tooth blade is really only good for cutting light tube. like less than 1/4" thick. It's not the proper blade for solid stock. You should only have 3-4 teeth in the material at a time or the chips will load and it wont cut. I would at least try an 6 or 8 tooth blade before giving up on that saw.

What tpi blade are you running? That will make the difference in the time it takes to cut. As long as it clears the throat on your saw your saw is big enough. A 4 tpi blade should cut it in less than a minute.

It may have been done well but why couldn't they take 2 minutes and drill a pritchel hole?

I've never seen such a clean PW. They're usually thrashed. Heel seems extra thick.

Hmm looking at it again the color of the heel seems a little off...

For most jobs you probably wouldn't be at max duty cycle. Its probably rated at 60% @ 130a. For welding anything under 1/2" that duty cycle is not really an issue.

It's really clean other than what looks like a little torch scuff on the heel. I would think 250-300 would be more realistic but you can always start high.

Yeah that was my first thought too. Did they ever make an anvil with a forged base though?

Sounds like they are Farrier tongs. For holding horseshoes.
