I'm starting to learn blacksmithing and I am thinking about building a vertical railroad track anvil. It would be about 3ft tall and burried in a bucket of concrete. I was planning on welding a block of steel to the top of the rr track so I can have a larger working area. What type of steel would I need and what size should I look for? Also would I need to heat treat it. I will mainly be making knives and tomahawks. Thanks!
