  1. Frosty- Dogs name is Tara, she a boxer/mastiff mutt we rescued from a farm. Mitch4ging- Heated her up and used Olive Oil for the finish, waiting for it to cool down now so I can buff it up. I am a wee bit concerned that the oil I choose to use may impart a "off" flavor to the wine, but she will be the judge of that. Thank you both for the compliments, I hope top have more soon.
  2. Beautiful weekend weather in Michigan, great time to fire up the forge. I made the wife a "sangria Spoon" for getting at all the wine infuse fruit at the bottom of the pitcher. Base stock 1/2 inch round bar, ended up approx 1/4 square and 14" long. I hammered the spoon end flat and cupped it in the hardy with a ball peen hammer. I caught myself day dreaming staring in the fire and ended up burning the middle, tried to hide it by rounding it. That was not working out so I gave up. Thanks for looking.
  3. My name is Tom and I have lurked awhile while building forge, collecting tools, and smashing steel. I live in Sterling Heights Michigan and cant wait to get some work going. I run a brake drum forge with coal and have just secured a 200lb Vulcan to get serious. My main interest is weapons, but have a lot of ideas for other "daily" items thanks to the forum. I have just sent my dues to the MABA and plan on attending the hammer in next month. Any tips for that week end? Thanks, Tom.
