All done, I'm happy with it and learned a good amount through trial and error.

I live in america, I didn't ask about inter library loans, they might have something like that here to, not sure will check though

Thanks for the info, that book is not available here but I got a pdf of it. I bought a new grinding pad made by dewault took all that black stuff right off. My cheapo harbor freight pads were not doing the trick.

I am trying to put a handle on my sword, or at least get it ready to put on after i finish grinding. I was going to put a wood handle on it, but am not sure if I should split the handle in half and carve out a spot for the tang or do something else. And I have no idea what to do about a pommel. My tools are limited to a dremel, small files drill and an angle grinder. I might could get a hold of a drill press but would rather stick with what I have atm. Also I used some cheap cold rolled steel from home depot. I know this is not the best way to go but I wanted to learn to use my grinder and files before getting into harder steel.
