I have been reading this forum for a couple of months and decided it was time to introduce myself. I have been interested in blacksmithing for many years and finally took a blacksmithing course in January. Since then I have made all of the iron equipment that we use in our re-enactment (18th century) camp. The forge I use is one that I made. My anvil is a Harbor freight 55 lb one but am looking for a better one. I am a retired machinist so have worked with metals for many years but blacksmithing to me is a much more enjoyable way to shape the iron than using machines.
