I started loading'em up and taking them home in stages....that's a lotta weight! Most of these have the "HC" on their heads so I see t-hawks, knives, and all sorts of tools and the like in the future. :)

The weather here in SoCentral PA finally made the turn towards fair weather allowing me the chance to go for a walk in the woods behind my work. What do I find? Two large piles of railroad spikes. Each pile consists of roughly 200 spikes and various other pieces of RR iron. I talked to the boss about'em and told him that I'd get rid of'em and he asked if I needed a work truck to do it. SCORE! :lol:

I believe what you've got there is a WWI German trench knife.

It's sure got the classic lines of a Hay Budden. Whatever the maker is, it's a darn nice looking anvil :)

Yeah, I agree - looks like a mousehole. I have one that looks just like it marked 1-1-13 (153 lbs).

This one tops the scales at just under 153lbs. I paid 200 bucks for it and my wife asked my why I bought another anvil and all I could tell her was, "The price was right." She just shakes her head and walks away. :rolleyes:

This is a new, old anvil I picked up recently. I've looked all over for markings and none come up. I've even done the flour dusting on it but still nothing. I'm thinking it's an older Mousehole. Anyone else got a guess?

Everytime I look at that anvil I picture one of those ugly, wrinkled-up dogs that everyone used to be so fond of. :unsure:

It's amazing the kind of stuff that turns up around these parts. (SoCentral PA) This is a HUGE forge that I came across for just the right price. The blower reads "Potts and Webber No 1" "Lancaster, PA" It's rock solid and the blower fan spins like it was new and the fire pot is excellent. A few belts and she'll be read to go. If this only happened more often.

I went to an auction a few years ago where the entire contents of a smithy was being sold. Among some of the materials sitting around were several binders of material from the Blacksmith Journal.....the only stuff in the entire shop the fellow wouldn't part with......

I've made several well balance "hawks" out of large ball hammers. You've got a eye already, there's no need for welding. Good for learning drawing, and hammer control.
