Hello guys! I could use some help.... Iv been making different tools. Like a pick an a hammer thingy... But every time I go to make the hole for a handle it bulged out on one side an makes it lopsided . Is there a trick to making the hole. Or just keep practicing ?

HOOOOLLLLLYYYYY MOOOLLLYYY!!!! That is a lot of cash for a book. But im shore its worth it.

ya this is what i was going to do but thought it would be cool to forgweld them together. Im going to try an make a round shield. I wanted to weld the to leaf springs together and have the ends rap around the edges... holding it together. Or at least making it look like it was.
I dont mean this in a xxxxxx way but if i wanted to just do it the easy way an use i welder i would. But i would think that would defeat the hole purpose of me learning blacksmithing . IF leaf springs dont work well i will use something elts. i just want to no how to do it in a general way.
thank you guys . -
Just wondering what's the best way to weld to things together with out a welder. Should I just heat both pieces up nice an hot an bang the xxxx out of them? I'm going to try an make an X out of two leaf springs.

found a threading die at a shop today and the guy wants $4 for it. i know that's not much but i don't no if it's worth it... it seamed like it was in ok shape as far as i know but that doesn't say much about things like that. An the other thing is should it have different sizes attachments for the middle. all it had was a 5/8th. would you guys get it?
