  1. Thanks guys ! If you guys have any advise on selling or know someone who wants this thing please tell me!
  2. This is my first post here, but I recognize several of you from don fogg's forum. I just finished up this bowie-like knife. If I remember right it's made of files and mild steel, somewhere between 50 and 100 layers I think... Its been in the works for a while, but its probably my best knife so far (I've made maybe 20 so far?). The handle is wenge and antler with mild steel fittings and copper spacers. After grinding it to a pretty thin edge, i risked an interupted water quench with only the edge carefully heated, which produced a very plain hamon, but I like the result. Its definitely a milestone as far as fit and finish is concerned but its also the first knife I've finished using my new coote beltgrinder. Having a beltgrinder has given me alot of control over the geometry of the blade. Previously the blades I would make were pretty clunky and wouldnt take a fine edge. This one has a very nice flat grind with a convex edge which will shave hair very easily. I do have alot to learn though, as far as grinding is concerned. There seems ot be a tendancy for the grind near the ricasso to be finer than near the tip, and the finish is not perfect but overall Im happy with it. This is actually one of the few knives of mine that I have actually liked so far, which means I am going to try to sell it so I can get more supplies (250$ shipped anywhere in the lower 48, but I will entertain reasoonable offers) . thanks for looking!
