  1. Growing up in the military we were stationed at a navy base in the middle of nowhere Ridgecrest, Ca. The base had stables for horses and mules. The ferrier there used a portable forge similar to this one.
  2. Just joined the forum and built my first solid fuel forge today. What I used: 1. Helium tank ( has a valve on it to adjust air flow) 2. Fire bricks 3. Air compressor w/ 20 gal tank The helium tank was trash left over from a brothers wedding, I cut the top left quarter off of it. I then placed it with opening up. Placed one fire brick on the bottom with one slid into place in the back and wedged in each side. Next I placed two on the top sideways. I broke one of the bricks up into smaller peices and placked in the front. I then ran a hose from the compressor to the tank valve and secured it with a small hose clamp. I filled with wood and used a torch to light it. Once the coals got bright orange I turned the air on and placed a broken round file in the forge, just a few minutes later I was able to fold the file three times. I will add photos tomorrow.
