  1. FINISHED SKINNER- LESS HANDLE.   THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP WITH MY QUESTIONS ON THE 15N20-01 COMBINATION.  I WOULD LIKLEY GO WITH FEWER LAYERS ON THE NEXT ONE FOR MORE DEFINITION BUT I'M PRETTY HAPPY WITH IT.   HANDLE TO BE INSTALLED TOMORROW IS MADE FROM THE CANNON BONE FROM THE FRONT LEG OF A HORSE AND THE FINISHED PRODUCT GOES TO AN AUCTION FOR THE ONTARIO FARRIERS ASSOC  EDUCATION FUND.   WOULD LIKE TO HEAR COMMENTS ON ANY IMPROVEMENTS.    THANKS   TRIPPpost-11913-0-04265800-1362344206_thumb.jpost-11913-0-95803000-1362344293_thumb.j

THEN USE THE LINSEED BEESWAX, TURPENTINE MIX FOR A FINISH. THE BOOK I HAVE IS MACHINERY"S SHOP RECEIPTS AND FORMULAS COPYRIGHT 1911 BY THE INDUSTRIAL PRESS. 3. I AM LOOKING FOR A FORMULA OR PROCESS TO COLOUR OR STAIN MILD STEEL A BROWN COLOUR. IT IS A COFFEE TABLE PROJECT WITH VINES AND LEAVES UNDER A GLASS TOP. I HAVE A 20"S MACHINEST MANUEL WITH SOME IDEAS BUT SOME OF THE NEEDED STUFF IS NOW ILLEGAL TO BUY IN CANADA. HOPE SOME OF YOU GUY"S HAVE SOME IDEAS OTHER THAN PAINT. IF THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO I CAN DO THAT BUT WOULD PREFER TO HAVE IT LOOK OLD RATHER THAN "MADE" TO LOOK OLD. THANKS STEVE

  4. Look up vet tec products on the web. Try one called superfast. I use it for building extentions on horse foals feet. Almost indestructable and you can file, sand and polish it. Sets up in about 2 min and is 100% solid in 30 min. Real easy to work with. You need to have a special gun to dispence it, well worth the investment. They have several different products. Talk to the local farrier assoc for help. Great idea for the handle. Steve

  5. one question.... One statement...

Are you sure you have the minimum horsepower motor with enough rotating mass for the hammer? A light motor does not work well with that size mechanical. The original motors used (or line shaft environments) probably had hundreds of pounds of rotating mass that was engaged when the belt was tightened.

Also..... Try reversing the rotation of the motor. As grant has indicated, it makes a difference in the successful operation of a slip-belt environment.

5hp motor, power does not seem to be a problem,
  6. I'm a new power hammer owner and have recently installed a fairbanks ez11 it is approx 150 lb and i.m having some difficulty with belt adjustment. How tight does the belt have to be with no load i can't get it to pull the flywheel over. Fear of breaking something on my new toy has me abit gun shy on having it to tight. Any clues thanks tripp
