I need to get this running someday...It works like a regular mechanical hammer, and can convert to a treadle hammer by unbolting the crank linkage and hooking up an optional linkage rod. The elevator-door type cross linkage behind the hammer ram hooks to some coil springs (missing), and keeps the hammer raised until you stomp the treadle for a single blow.
