Hello everyone. my names Andre, im 23 years old from west bromwich. I've had an interest in blacksmithing since i was extremely young but only now starting on my journey. I've been reading up and watching videos for many years so i feel i have a good foundation of knowledge prior to forging.

Im a panel beater/car body worker and painter by trade, but its not my cup of tea. This is my second year living with my girlfriend in our own apartment, slowly (i was not able to spend too much too quickly.. bills:angry:) over the course of this time i have been amasing the necessary tools for this hobby. My anvil is a 356 pounder , it has no markings other than weight but is very reminiscent of a peter wright in shape, it is quite peculiar as it has 2 hardy holes, one at the heel, and one behind the horn, as well as 2 pritchel holes.

This saturday gone i got my anvil mounted and started my forge up for the first real forging session. As i'm just beginning all i've made so far is a split cross, but plan to start making other small items such as leaves, s hooks, hearts etc.

If anyone is in my vicinity i'd love to some day meet up with others and maybe have someone who can help me learn this amazing craft.

Thanks for reading my introduction. I may not yet be able contribute much as i have seen what amazing work everyone on this forum does, but i have been and will continue to take everything i can in and maybe one day will be able to make contributions i can be proud of.

Yeah ive  already read that, thank you. yeah the UK, im actually just a few miles away from where peter wright was born and lived. The area is known for being one of the most industrial parts of the country during the industrial revolution, which probably helps me with anvils as ive spotted a few already in peoples front gardens here.
