persimmontreeforge
I plan to build a stacked-brick propane forge with about 300 cubic inch volume. I want it hot enough to forge weld. It looks as though I want one or two venturi burners. Suggestions as to a source? Make? Model? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
keykeeper
PTF: Here's a link to Helmut Hillenkamp's site.gasforge | iron | iron-to-live-with There is a simple plan for stacked brick forges there. Surf around the site, some good info. there. Also, try Zoeller forge. Just google that site, easy to find, some more good info. there, also. keykeeper
There is a section on that site that profiles silmilar setups based on the design. Many different configurations there. I found the site helpful in my quest of knowledge, also.
Jmercier
I find it much easier to get to welding temps with a blown propane forge. Venturi is great for working in a place without power, but if you have power where your'e going to be forging, a single blown burner will easily get that volume to welding temp, and is much easier to assemble and tune than a venturi burner. This is my welding forge, and the only blown propane forge in my shop.http://www.tharkis.com/images/forge.jpg It was very simple to make and works great.
