kozu Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I am repairing my forge, itc,100 seems a little to expensive, i have heard about satanite ref. coating, can i pick someones brain on this matter, or any help thanks, sean. Quote
Drewed Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Huh? Your looking for something to line your forge with? A very dry mix of Portland cement and sand works great. Quote
MattBower Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I assume that since you posted this in the Solid Fuel Forges forum, this is either a coal or charcoal forge of relatively traditional design. Assuming that's correct, you would be wasting your money and time using ITC-100. IR reflective coatings serve no useful purpose that I know of in solid fuel forges. Satanite is not an IR reflector. It's a refractory mortar. (Not all refractories are IR reflective, or at least not to any useful extent. There's a reason ITC is much more expensive than the typical refractory.) Tell us a little more about your forge and we may be able to tell you if Satanite would serve any useful purpose in it. Quote
kozu Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 I have a chili habanero, its a dbl burner, thanks for your reply matt, just looking for a cheaper option, itc gets pricey. Sean.Mod note: then I will relocate this thread to the proper location, unless you have converted your gas forge into a solid fuel forge?. Quote
