I am also born and bred Fife. Anvil was picked up in dundee.

I have never heard of this, but it makes so much sense. Currently at mother in law's but heading home. Will try this out.
Im happy enough with the anvil and for the price I paid I'm over the moon. Just would love to know more of its history.

Hello, recently got into blacksmithing. Managed to pick up what I think is a fairly decent anvil. More than enough for me to get started on. Have managed to figure out the weight as it's in hundred weights. Coming in at 202lbs.
However I'm unable to identify the make, don't recognize it and can't fully make it out.
Would possibly stand out to someone who knows what they are looking at.
Have included a couple images.
Any help is appreciated.

Small world! My dad was from very close to there in a town called Crossgates. I still have family in hill-of-beath and Cowdenbeath.
