i have a hair dryer

it is 1/4" plate in the shape of a circle. the coal i use is called "premium nut coal".

how long does it take for the coal to go out when removed from direct air and it is just coal burning not wood?

my grate is a 2 1/2" plate with 3, 1/2" holes in a strait line.

I recently fired up my new coal forge I made and every thing was going fine untill about an hour or so in and the coal just sort of died. I have read that it is ash and clinker buildup. how do I clean it out without puting out my fire/coal?

I want to make a 2''x 72'' belt sander/grinder made from a Ryobi(brand) 6'' bench grinder. Any ideas on how to do it or where to find instructions/information on it?

I was also wondering if I need to quench the face of the anvil or can I leave as is? 

I plan on making the face out of one of these:

I want to make my own hammer and anvil so I was wondering if I need to use high carbon steel for both or does it really matter?

Ok thanks and how should I be able tell if I dont hake enough airflow? Are most hair dryers powerful enough?

Is there any such thing as too much forced air? And if so  what could happen if there is?

Where is your shop?

I recently have started building a coal forge. I have always wanted to make damasks steel and I have read online that coal can burn at temperatures of 4500 degrees Fahrenheit which is more that enough heat to make damasks! My question is how much air flow do I need in order to get it to burn that hot? I have a hair dryer got from Goodwill but will it be enough?

All the help I can get will be great!!
