A few years ago I saw an add for a PW of very similar weight on ebay in Sydney Australia where anvil prices are even higher than where you are. Asking price was $1400. I dismissed the ad for nonsense only to see that it did not sell and was re-posted. 

I rung the seller and told him that he would never sell for that price and that a fair price was $600. A gamble I know but it worked. I bought it for $700. There are desperate ignorant buyers and desperate ignorant sellers in every country. 

As for the purchase of those tools, the only thing of value is the anvil. You decide what it is worth for you, disregard the stand since it is scrap, and the vice? well ... may be worth $50 to $100 depending of the size of your wallet. i would be inclined to pay $800 for the lot if it is nearby in Sydney Australia.

Unfortunately we don't know where you are. If you put your general location in the header you might be surprised how many members live within visiting distance. A lot of things depend on location, tool prices are high on that list. That'd be a fair price in Anchorage Ak. but highway robbery in places in the upper mid west. 

Where ever it is I'd knock a couple hundred off my counter offer because it's been welded to a stand I'll have to haul to the scrap yard. I assume the vise is welded on too. Otherwise the anvil looks to be in good shape but do a rebound test on it. If someone welded it to the stand they may have "repaired" it too and ruined the heat treat of the face.

Hello Frosty thank you for the reply I will most likely be mounting it seporately. I’m in Orlando, Florida where it seems anvil prices are high all over Florida. I will be doing all the tests I can and will be trying to get it for closer to $1000.00

Keeps a loving spouse from blowing the budget getting something the other doesn't think is worth it.  That they were thinking about the other is considered the "gift".

I would not spend that much without checking to see if he would really rather have a brand new NIMBA Centurion (260 pounds), 

for a bit more or a Titan (120 pounds) for substantially less!

Hello everyone, I’ve just came across this Peter Wright Anvil on Craigslist in central Florida. I am going to see it tomorrow and may purchase it. I wanted to see what you all might think about the price and condition, everything looks fine to me but I’m am not to familiar with  blacksmithing in general, it will be a gift for my father. Here are pictures and the Craigslist description and sorry if I put this question in the wrong place. And thank you for the help.
