Hello! I am so happy to have found this forum. As a beginner with a life long interest I look forward to learning from the years of experience contained here
. I spent many hours as a child, sitting in the 'garage' letting my mind wander...our garage was the original blacksmith shop in Thief River Falls, MN. The two brick forges and ceiling bellows were still there along with horse shoes, hardware, tool racks etc.. I loved sitting there and imagining the sound of the hammers on anvils, the smell of the forges...
So, now I am learning the craft and loving the journey! My working anvil is a 189lb Arm&Hammer. I prefer coal to propane but will use whatever is handy! I will be putting in many late nights reading all of the threads and posts on I Forge Iron. Happy to be a part of it!

HI - Thank you for the reply.
The anvil is in NW Minnesota. Yes, I know not to grind the face. This anvil is one that I am considering buying. My work anvil is a 189lb Arm&Hammer.
I'll try to get my location in my profile!
