  1. Howdy from East TEXAS!! and welcome to IFI! Ya wanta move north some?!! only about 6-7 hrs north, that's all, just a little closer to Longview maybe?!?;) Anyway, glad to have you. Chime in when you feel the urge and don't forget to post pictures when you have them! Once again, welcome.

I do have 71ac near Mexia but that is still a bit of a drive.....
  2. Hello all. My name is Stan Norred and I live in Galveston Co. Texas. I'm 16mi. as a crow flies from the surf. I'm a long term machinist, millwright, welder, builder, designer, yadda, yadda, yadda....... RETIRED. I've worked in the petro-chemical industry for over 30 years, with a few side excursions into manufacturing facilities. I own my own machine and fabrication shop located at my home in the hinterlands of the bustling metropolis of Santa Fe, Texas???

I found this site doing a search for a ring roller. Considering the cost of purchasing one I've decided to build my own. I've built my own shop and some of my equipment so this should be no problem.

Anyway, I'm glad I found Y'all and I'm proud to be accepted as a member.

I'm a firm believer in BARTER. I have a good bit to barter with or know where to find it. Right now I'm looking for a 3/4hp gearmotor - reversable, single or three phase, #30 or better chain and sprockets, surplus pillow block bearings 1 1/4" to 2".

I have propane tanks - cleaned & purged, but I still insist on making the first cut myself.
I have a sawmill & will barter lumber cutting services.
I have a 580C backhoe, 231S Massey and 30', 18' & 16' trailers to haul them and a suitable truck up to the task. I will barter backhoe/tractor and/or hauling services.
I have octagonal & round traffic light towers to barter but they will pull a premium as they cost $4900 new.
I also have a Kohler 45,000 watt 3phase natural gas/propane generator I no longer need (I use a phase converter now). It has a Ford 300 6cyl and runs like new. It has 720 original easy hours.
I also offer machining services for those that may need it.

Again, I'd rather barter than exchange Federal Reserve notes but I will if I must.

    Stan
